The NDIS changes have passed Parliament.

After months of submissions, Senate hearings, emails, phone calls and advocacy, many of us are feeling disappointed, angry, worried or exhausted.

We also have questions.

What actually passed? What do the amendments mean? When will the changes start? What happens if our supports are affected? And where does our campaign go from here?

Every Australian Counts is bringing our community together for a special national online forum to unpack what has happened and talk about what comes next.

This won’t just be another NDIS briefing.

It’s a chance for our community to come together after a long and difficult fight.

We’re joined by Senator Jordon Steele-John, and Belinda Kochanowska from Intrepedius Law and Naomi Anderson from Villamanta to explain the amendments.

What we’ll talk about

Members of the Every Australian Counts Steering Committee will be joined by experts to help us understand:

  • What actually passed Parliament.
  • What changed through the amendments.
  • What the amendments mean for us.
  • What concerns remain.
  • When the different changes will start.
  • What we still don’t know.
  • What our rights and options are if our supports are affected.
  • Where we can go for advocacy, legal help and support.
  • What comes next for the Protect Our NDIS campaign.

There will also be plenty of time for questions and community discussion.

We want to hear how we’re feeling after the vote, what we’re worried about, what questions remain unanswered and what our community needs from Every Australian Counts in the months ahead.

You don’t have to speak or ask a question. You’re very welcome to simply come along and listen.

Our community fought incredibly hard throughout this process.

Thousands of us made submissions. We appeared before Senate hearings. We contacted MPs and Senators. We shared deeply personal experiences and warned Parliament about what these changes could mean for our lives.

That advocacy mattered. Some important safeguards were secured through the amendment process because our community kept pushing.

But many of our concerns remain.

Now we need to understand what happens as these changes move from Parliament into our lives.

Every Australian Counts will keep watching implementation, explaining the changes in plain language, documenting what happens and holding decision-makers accountable.

And we want to do that together.
