We were overwhelmed by the response – with more than 1,600 of you letting us know what the campaign means to you and what your priorities are into the future.

The results are in and they will guide the direction we take in 2016.

Here’s some of what you said.

We’re your voice

More than 70 per cent of you said that the Every Australian Counts campaign gives a real voice to people with disability.

We’re also pleased to hear that most of you find our information about the NDIS timely and relevant.

There’s a nervous excitement in our community about the NDIS. We know there are many more challenges to face before the scheme is fully rolled out and we all want to make sure it is the best it can be.

That’s why it’s as important as ever that we continue to campaign on the issues you are most concerned about.

Your key issues

The survey results clearly show that there are five top issues for Every Australian Counts supporters:

  • Making sure services are of high quality under the NDIS (50 per cent)
  • Making sure the NDIS rolls out to everyone with disability in every state and territory (44 per cent)
  • Disability housing (41 per cent)
  • Regulation of service providers (31 per cent)
  • Carers and their rights under the NDIS (30 per cent)

Other important concerns include the employment of people with disability, pricing of services under the NDIS, building a strong and reliable disability workforce, transport options for people with disability, mental health and the NDIS, better consultation with the sector and diversity.

These are the issues most important to you and it’s these areas we’ll be focussing on as we plan our campaign activities for 2016.

We want to say a big thank you to everyone who completed the survey and helped to define the future direction of the campaign.

Every Australian Counts is your campaign and we’re looking forward to continuing to be your voice in 2016.
