Dave’s tip the balance story

Tipping the balance logo showing a smiley emoji and a sad emoji on scales with the NDIS logo underneath

We are NDIS recipients from a small town in Western NSW. Prior to NDIS, there were five major disability providers in town (including Uniting and Anglicare). For many years we happily self managed our NSW Govt funds with private services and providers. When the NDIS arrived, they all left town because it was not profitable enough for them to operate here. That was in 2018, and no new providers have come to town since. As a result, an Aged Care Home in a distant town was the only option for us as disabled young people. The question we have been asking ever since is “How are we not worse off under the NDIS?”.
