Review of NDIS costs brought forward

Tags: , , ,

Treasurer Scott Morrison

Late last week the Treasurer announced he was bringing forward the review of the National Disability Insurance Scheme to be undertaken by the Productivity Commission.

Originally planned to begin mid 2017, the review will now be complete before the end of the year – the final report is due to be delivered in September.

The review will look at costs of the scheme and update the original projections provided by the Productivity Commission.

The NDIS is one of Australia’s biggest ever reforms – it needs to be sustainable for the long term. But economic sustainability cannot come at the cost of life opportunities for people with disability.

This review must be considered in light of the hundreds of thousands of people with disability, their families and carers who the NDIS is for.

Stay tuned. We will be working with you to ensure this review gives consideration to the people the NDIS will benefit, not just the economics behind it.
