STATE and territory disability ministers on Friday ordered officials to work with the agency in charge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) on a pilot to develop innovative accommodation options and models.

However, the pilot will only be available to those under a few scheme trial sites around the country.It comes amid warnings from disability campaigners about the consequences of inaction on tackling housing supply for those with a disability.The group Every Australian Counts says if nothing is done, more than 100,000 Australians would be without adequate housing in a few years.Some people featured in its report

Some people featured in its report into the issue shared their frustrations with the system, including a Queensland man concerned about being relegated to a nursing home.One mother was told the only way her son would be housed was if he was.
