The scheme will be rolled out in Campaspe Shire from May 2017.

PossAbility Planners chief executive Elaine Hamilton welcomed this month’s announcement and said it would allow those with a disability to be more independent and seek to earn a living.

‘‘I am hoping the NDIS will help our community to look at the possibility of employing people with disabilities,’’ she said.

‘‘That will then reduce their need to be on pensions and they will be giving back to the economy.

‘‘It will also free up their carers so they can go back and get work too.’’
