Feedback forum for NDIS participants

The head of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has fronted a forum in Newcastle to get feedback from participants in the Hunter trial.

NDIS CEO David Bowen is visiting the region to discuss ways to improve access to disability services and iron out any unforseen delivery issues.

The scheme is set to be progressively rolled out across Australia next year.

Mr Bowen said concerns about the scheme’s long-term viability are top of the agenda, but it is actually running on budget.

“The scheme’s actually operating below its funding envelope,” he said.

“Taken what we know about an area like Newcastle, and if we extrapolate that to full scheme and allow for the different circumstances of each location, what would it look like against the cost assumptions for full scheme?
