Father gives NDIS the thumbs up after being involved in trial

A father from the Hunter Valley has told a crowd at Shellharbour that the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) has given his children a better quality of life and greater flexibility in finding the most appropriate care.

The Shoalhaven region will receive the NDIS as part of the national rollout in 2016, but today South Coast locals were given an insight into how it works from someone with first-hand experience.

Today is International Day of People with Disability, and Hunter Valley father Ron Prince was keen to talk about how the NDIS had affected his family.

“We weren’t sure about it at the time, but our two children rolled into the scheme on July 1 and we were taken aback and very surprised at what we were able to do under the scheme, and the choices and control they could get for themselves,” Mr Prince said.
