Every day is a new day for Wahiba and her family

Wahiba Omran was lying in a hospital bed when the school rang with the news her son had broken both his arms in an accident.

She was suffering an attack from the condition multiple sclerosis, so her husband Mohamed needed to attend to their son.

It was the type of serious family emergency that now and in future, they will have some extra help to deal with.

Wahiba was last week signed up as the ACT’s 5000th participant on the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

Self-effacing and humble, Wahiba said she did not originally apply for the scheme as she believed there were more people in greater need of the scheme’s support.
