NDIS: Disability groups demand answers over promised $700m specialised housing fund

Disability groups are demanding to know why the Federal Government is refusing say when it will allocate $700 million earmarked for specialised accommodation under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

The disability housing funding was intended to run alongside the $22 billion NDIS when it was first introduced by Julia Gillard in 2013, but the Federal Government is yet to release any of the money aside from a small number of pilot projects.

There is growing anger about the delay and disability groups are calling for an urgent focus on housing to stem what they say is the growing tide of young people entering nursing homes.
