Mieke Hammond’s message

Dear PM,

Just a few words about MND. My husband Peter Hammond was diagnosed with MND in 2008 and because he wanted to stay home and not go to a care centre I quit my job and took care of him.
MND is a terrible disease, while the speech, breathing etc is effected, the brain is still working. However, communication is almost inpossible, which makes life more a burden than just “being sick”.
Peter still managed at the start of this illness to at least wrote down for me what he needed and things he wanted me to do for him. However, it didn’t last long enough and soon communication between us was getting almost impossible, very sad.
