Michelle’s message

Caring for a child with a severe disability is like living in a prison cell from which there is no escape. You have no freedom unless you pay someone else to care for them so you can have a break. You can never be ‘like everyone else’ who jump in the car and take the kids to McDonalds – that is a very, very rare occurrence. Every day is stressful, every day of your life you are feeding, bathing, dressing a child that should be doing that for themselves. And the toileting – can you imagine what it’s like to wipe the poo from the bottom of a 14 year old disabled child? My son dribbles, he smells bad 1/2 an hour after you shower him. Help.
